What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

As part of the global Church of the Nazarene, we are a Christian people, a holiness people, and a missional people. These brief statements summarize our essential beliefs.

THE TRIUNE GOD

We believe in one eternal God, the Creator and Sustainer of all things, revealed as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

JESUS CHRIST

We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human. Through His life, death, and resurrection, He provides salvation for everyone who repents and believes in Him.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe the Holy Spirit is present and active in the world and in the Church. He brings new life, guides believers, and empowers us to live faithfully for Christ.

HOLY SCRIPTURE

We believe the Old and New Testaments are inspired by God and contain all truth necessary for faith and Christian living.

SIN AND SALVATION

We believe all people need God’s saving grace. Through Jesus Christ, forgiveness and new life are freely offered to everyone who repents and believes.

CHRISTIAN HOLINESS

We believe God calls every Christian to a life of holiness. Through the Holy Spirit, believers may be entirely sanctified—cleansed, filled with love for God and others, and empowered to grow in Christlike character and service.

THE CHURCH AND SACRAMENTS

We believe the Church is the community of all who confess Jesus Christ as Lord. Together we worship, grow as disciples, serve others, share the gospel, and celebrate baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

RESURRECTION AND CHRIST’S RETURN

We believe Jesus Christ will return, the dead will be raised, and every person will face God’s final judgment. Those who belong to Christ will share eternal life with Him.
